Kachanivka [Kačanivka].Map: III-13. Health resort in Ichnia raion, Chernihiv oblast. Because of its mild climate, Kachanivka has a tuberculosis sanatorium. A palace was built there by Petr Rumiantsev in the 1770s (photo: Kachanivka palace). The palace with its surrounding park later became the estate of the Tarnovsky family. In the 19th century many noted writers, such as Nikolai Gogol, Taras Shevchenko, and Marko Vovchok, visited Kachanivka. A rich collection of Ukrainian antiquities and documents connected with T. Shevchenko was transferred eventually from Kachanivka to the Chernihiv State Historical Museum.
