Korba, Yosyp

Korba, Yosyp (Корба, Йосип), b 13 May 1921 in Chmelova, Bardějov county, Czechoslovakia, d 2 November 1988 in Prešov, Slovakia. Character actor. From 1946 he worked in the Prešov Ukrainian National Theater. His repertoire includes Uncle Lev in Lesia Ukrainka’s Lisova pisnia (The Forest Song), Ivonika in Zemlia (Earth, an adaptation of Olha Kobylianska’s novel), Zadorozhnyi in Ivan Franko’s Ukradene shchastia (Stolen Happiness), Chasnyk in Oleksander Korniichuk’s V stepakh Ukraïny (In the Steppes of Ukraine), Lear in William Shakespeare’s King Lear, and Dr Galen in Karel Čapek’s Bílá nemoc (The White Plague).
