Lototsky, Volodymyr

Lototsky, Volodymyr [Лотоцький, Володимир; Lotoc'kyj], b 15 May 1883 in Shchepaniv, Berezhany county, Galicia, d 17 March 1958 in Philadelphia. Journalist and civic activist; husband of Olena Lototska. As a member of the Ukrainian National Democratic party, he worked as an editor of Dilo and chief editor of Svoboda (Lviv) (1910–13) in Lviv. After emigrating to the United States of America in 1913, he worked on the staff of Svoboda and eventually became its chief editor (1919–26). He then headed the paper Ameryka (Philadelphia) in Philadelphia (1927–43) and Narodna volia in Scranton, Pennsylvania (1943–6). Lototsky was active in many Ukrainian organizations and served as secretary of the Education Commission of the Ukrainian National Association, a member of the General Ukrainian Committee (1915), secretary of the Ukrainian National Committee (United States) (1918), and secretary of the League of Four Nations (1919).
