Maksymovych, Heorhii

Maksymovych, Heorhii [Максимович, Георгій; Maksymovyč, Heorhij], b 26 April 1922 in Horostyta, Volodava county, Lublin voivideship, Poland, d 4 March 2007 in Lviv. Scientist in physical chemistry and the mechanics of materials; from 1978 corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (later National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). He graduated from the Lviv Polytechnical Institute (1951). From 1958 he was deputy director of the Physical-Mechanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. His main contributions are in the fields of the high-temperature strength of construction materials, microhardness measurements, and alloy properties.
