Mykytas, Vasyl

Mykytas, Vasyl [Микитась, Василь; Mykytas', Vasyl'], b 23 October 1924 in Zhovte, Verkhnodniprovske county, Katerynoslav gubernia, d 20 March 1999 in Kyiv. Literary critic and literary scholar. He graduated from Dnipropetrovsk University in 1951. Among his numerous works are the critical survey of Oleksander Dukhnovych (O.V. Dukhnovych, 1959), the monograph Ukraïns'kyi pys'mennyk-polemist Mykhailo Andrella (The Ukrainian Writer-Polemicist Mykhailo Andrella, 1960), Pravda pro Vasylia Stefanyka (The Truth about Vasyl Stefanyk, 1975), Davnia ukraïns'ka literatura (Old Ukrainian Literature, coauthor, 1978), and Ivan Franko—Doslidnyk ukraïns'koï polemichnoï literatury (Ivan Franko, Researcher of Ukrainian Polemical Literature, 1983). Mykytas also coedited (with Olena Rudlovchak) Poety Zakarpattia: Antolohiia zakarpatoukraïns'koï poeziï XVI st.–1945 (Poets of Transcarpathia from the 16th Century to 1945, 1965).
