Edited by Pavlo Zaitsev, it contained articles by prominent cultural figures of the time—eg, Vadym Modzalevsky, Pavlo Fylypovych, Serhii Yefremov, and Opanas Slastion—on the history of Ukrainian culture, art, the Ukrainian national movement, and literature (especially on Taras Shevchenko); memoirs of community leaders of the 19th and early 20th centuries; and archival documents (eg, the first full publication of Mykola Kostomarov’s Knyhy bytiia ukraïns’koho narodu).
