Pelekhin, Petro

Pelekhin, Petro [Пелехін, Петро; Pelexin], b 1789 in Makiivka, Cherkasy county, Kyiv gubernia, d 3 October 1871 in Kyiv. Physician; father of Pavlo Pelekhin. A graduate of the Kyivan Mohyla Academy (1811) and the Saint Petersburg Medico-Surgical Academy (1824), he taught physiology and pathology at the academy and presented a doctoral thesis on neurosis at Edinburgh University (1829). He did research on cholera in Astrakhan and taught medicine at the Kyiv Theological Academy (from 1849).
