Prikarpatskaia Rus’

Prikarpatskaia Rus’ («Прикарпатская Русь»; Subcarpathian Ruthenia). A Russophile daily newspaper published in Lviv in 1909–15 by the Russian People’s Organization and edited by S. Labensky. Renewed after the First World War (December 1918 to December 1920) as the organ of the Russian Executive Committee under the editorship of Kyrylo Valnytsky, it supported the White forces in the Russian Civil War and welcomed Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky’s proclamation of Ukraine’s federation with Russia. Falling circulation caused the newspaper to close; it was succeeded by Volia naroda.
