Prokopovych, Sava

Prokopovych, Sava [Прокопович, Сава; Prokopovyč], b ?, d 1701. Member of the Cossack starshyna; progenitor of the Savych family. He was captain of Voronizh company in Nizhyn regiment (1669), a signatory of the Hlukhiv Articles, Hetman Demian Mnohohrishny’s envoy in Moscow (1669), and chancellor of Pereiaslav regiment (1671). He was appointed general chancellor (1672–87) and general judge (1687–1701) of the Hetman state. He took part in the starshyna’s overthrow of Hetman Ivan Samoilovych in 1687.
