Pushkar, Stefaniia

Pushkar, Stefaniia [Пушкар, Стефанія; Puškar, Stefanija; née Ортинська; Ortynsky], b 9 January 1901 in Chornoriky, Krosno county, Galicia, d 11 April 1988 in Philadelphia. Industrial engineer and civic leader; wife of Volodymyr Pushkar. She was director of the Ukrainske Narodnie Mystetstvo co-operative (1929–39 and 1941–4) and helped found the journal Nova khata. After emigrating to the United States of America in 1947, she was active in the Ukrainian National Women's League of America as a member of its executive and as president (1966–71), as well as in the World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organizations as vice-president.
