Rudenko, Raisa

Rudenko, Raisa née Kaplun [Руденко, Раїса; Rajisa], b 20 November 1939 in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, d 3 October 2020 in Kyiv. Dissident and political prisoner; wife of Mykola Rudenko. She was arrested for disseminating Ukrainian dissident documents in April 1981, and sentenced in September to five years in a labor camp for women in the Mordovian Autonomous Republic and to five years’ exile in the Altai region. In 1987 she was allowed to emigrate to the United States of America with her husband, and in 1990 she returned with him to Ukraine.
