Seleznov, Ivan [Селезньов, Іван; Selezn'ov], b 3 January 1856 in Kyiv, d 31 March 1936 in Kyiv. Painter. After graduating from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts (1881) he returned to Kyiv, where he took part in the restoration of the 12th-century frescoes in Saint Cyril's Monastery (1884) and taught at the Kyiv Drawing School (1886–90) and Kyiv Art School (1901–20). He did genre paintings (eg, The Last Chord, 1885), historical paintings (eg, In Pompei, 1886), and portraits (eg, of Mykola I. Murashko and his daughter).
