Shreier-Tkachenko, Onysia

Shreier-Tkachenko, Onysia [Шреєр-Ткаченко, Онися; Šrejer-Tkačenko, Onysja], b 10 January 1905 in Krasnostavtsi, Kamianets-Podilskyi county, Podilia gubernia, d 16 October 1985 in Kyiv. Musicologist. She completed her undergraduate (1940) and graduate (1947) degrees at the Kyiv Conservatory. She lectured at the Kyiv Conservatory from 1944, and in 1960 was appointed head of the department of music history. She edited and contributed chapters to Istoriia ukraïns'koï dozhovtnevoï muzyky (History of Pre-Soviet Ukrainian Music, 1969), was a coauthor of the two-volume Narysy z istoriï ukraïns'koï muzyky (Essays in the History of Ukrainian Music, 1964), and wrote Istoriia ukraïns'koï muzyky (History of Ukrainian Music, 1980) as well as numerous articles and brochures on musicians and the history of music in Ukraine.
