Svichka, Leontii

Svichka, Leontii [Свічка, Леонтій; Svička, Leontij; né Назаренко, Левко; Nazarenko, Levko], b ?, d 1699. Cossack officer during the Hetman state. He held various posts in Lubny regiment, including those of osaul (intermittently in 1655–88), chancellor (1671), judge (1672), and colonel (1688–99). He was also the Pyriatyn town otaman in 1677 and a participant in the Muscovite Crimean (1687 and 1689) and Oziv (1696) campaigns. His portrait appears on the Crucifixtion icon by Y. Ivanovych.
