Syvokin, Hryhorii

Syvokin, Hryhorii [Сивокінь, Григорій; Syvokin', Hryhorij], b 19 August 1931 in Artemivka, Chutove raion, Poltava oblast, d 9 December 2014 in Poltava. Literary scholar and literary critic. He graduated from Kharkiv University (1955) and did postgraduate work there in Old Ukrainian literature. A senior associate of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (subsequently, Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), he wrote many critical and theoretical articles; books on old Ukrainian poetics (1960), creative literature and the reader (1971), the artistic development of contemporary Soviet literature (1980), and Ukrainian literature and the reader (1984); and books of literary criticism (1965, 1972, 1978).
