Taran

Taran (Rutilus rutilus heckeli; Ukrainian: тараня; tarania). A semimigratory fish of the carp family Cyprinidae that inhabits the estuary regions of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and enters the lower reaches of the Dnipro River, the Don River, and the Kuban River to spawn. It reaches a length of up to 40 cm and weight of up to 1.5 kg. It is a valuable commercial fish, but its stocks are continuously being depleted.
