Tyshchenko, Mykola

Tyshchenko, Mykola [Тищенко, Микола; Tyščenko], b 16 January 1893 in Velbivka, Hadiach county, Poltava gubernia, d after 1963. Historian and archivist. A graduate of Kyiv University, in the 1920s he worked for the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (VUAN) and the Kyiv Central Archive of Old Documents. He studied the mercantile history of 18th-century Ukraine, as well as archival history, and his scholarly works were published in the serials of the VUAN Historical-Geographical Commission and the Historical-Philological Section. After the Second World War he worked in Kamianets-Podilskyi. An article by him on 18th-century trade between Russia and Left-Bank Ukraine appeared in the journal Ukraïns’kyi istorychnyi zhurnal in 1963. Nothing further is known of him.
