Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada

Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada (Братство українців католиків Канади; Bratstvo ukraintsiv katolykiv Kanady). A national lay organization for Ukrainian Catholics founded in 1932 in Saskatoon to strengthen the Ukrainian Catholic church in Canada. It was modeled initially as a Catholic Action-style association. Guided for many years by Rev Stefan Samchuk and then Rev Vasyl Kushnir, it published Biuileten' Bratstva ukraïntsiv katolykiv Kanady (1933–7) and Buduchnist’ natsiï (1932–50) and sponsored the establishment of the Sheptytsky Institute in Saskatoon in 1935. One of the founding members of the Ukrainian Canadian Committee in 1940, it had over 100 branches across Canada in 1982.
