Ukrainian War Veterans’ Association of the USA

Ukrainian War Veterans’ Association of the USA (Українська стрілецька громада в ЗДА; Ukrainska striletska hromada v ZDA). An organization of former soldiers of the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic and the Ukrainian Galician Army founded in Philadelphia in 1925 for the purpose of cultivating Ukrainian military traditions, helping war invalids in Ukraine, and supporting the struggle for Ukrainian independence. The association collected over 44,000 dollars in a decade and helped to finance Ukrainian Invalids’ Aid Society and the Ukrainian Invalids’ Home in Lviv. Its first and longterm president was Volodymyr Galan. Upon organizing the United Ukrainian War Veterans in America in 1949, the association dissolved itself.
