Union of Ukrainian War Invalids

Union of Ukrainian War Invalids (Союз українських воєнних інвалідів; Soiuz ukrainskykh voiennykh invalidiv). A charitable organization founded in 1947 in Augsburg to aid Ukrainian invalids in the displaced persons camps in Germany and Austria. Its list of dependents has gradually diminished from over 500 in 1952 to 280 in 1958 and 80 in 1983. Funds are donated by Ukrainian veterans’ organizations and Ukrainian welfare services in Canada, the United States of America, and Australia. The union’s head office is in Munich. Its presidents have been I. Marchuk, I. Nebola, Mykola Stechyshyn (1955–71), and R. Debrytsky (after 1971).
