Yablonsky, Martyn

Yablonsky, Martyn or Jabłoński, Marcin [Яблонський, Мартин; Jablons'kyj], b 1801 in Głogów Małopolski near Rzeszów, d 19 February 1876 in Lviv. Painter. He studied art in Lviv, Warsaw, Cracow, and Vienna. He settled in Lviv, where he painted mostly portraits, including ones of his father and son, Girl with Breakfast on a Tray, and Woman’s Portrait. He also painted the iconostasis for the Dormition Church in Lviv and some religious compositions, and restored paintings. He set up a printing shop in Lviv in 1850 and there made lithographs.
