Zabłudów Gospel

Zabłudów Gospel. The first published Church Slavonic didactic gospel. It was printed in 1568–9 by Ivan Fedorovych (Fedorov) and P. Mstsislavets at the printing press of the Lithuanian grand hetman H. Khodkevich in Zabłudów (Ukrainian: Zabludiv) in northern Podlachia. Khodkevych wanted the gospel to be published in the vernacular so that it would be comprehensible to the common people, but Fedorovych and Mstsislavets printed it in Church Slavonic.
