Chornomorske [Čornomors’ke] (formerly Ak-Mechet). Map: VIII-13. Town smt (2001 pop 11,709), raion center in northwestern Crimea. It has a port, a resort for children, and a small-scale food industry. Scythian graves of the 4th-5th century bc have been found nearby (see Ak-Mechet burial site).
