Khata (Saint Petersburg) (Home). A literary almanac edited and published by Panteleimon Kulish in Saint Petersburg in 1860 in two printings. The almanac contained a selection of Taras Shevchenko's poetry, published under the heading ‘Kobzars’kyi hostynets’‘ (The Kobzar's Gift), fables by Yevhen Hrebinka, and poems by Yakiv Shchoholiv and Petro Kuzmenko. Furthermore, it published Oleksandra Psol's poems (unsigned) dedicated to the persecuted members of the Cyril and Methodius Brotherhood, and particularly to T. Shevchenko. A play by P. Kulish, Koliï (Kolii Rebels), and a number of short stories were included: Marko Vovchok's ‘Chary’ (Charms), P. Kulish's ‘Sira kobyla’ (The Gray Mare), Hanna Barvinok's ‘Lykho ne bez dobra’ (Evil Is Not without Good), ‘Voseny lito’ (Summer in Autumn), and ‘Try sl’ozy divochi’ (A Girls' Three Tears), and Matvii Nomys's ‘Did Myna i baba Mynykha’ (Grandpa Myna and Grandma Mynykha).
