Komar, Ted [Комар, Теодор], b 6 June 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, d 3 October 1996 in London, Ontario. Accordionist, arranger, teacher. From 1947 to 1958 he performed as an accordion soloist on the CBC radio’s Prairie Schooner. In 1952 he formed the Ted Komar Orchestra, which appeared widely in Canada and the United States of America featuring old-time music. In 1975 it recorded Happiness Is Resi and Reflections. Komar conducted a number of studio orchestras on CBC radio and TV. In 1975 he performed his own arrangement of Three Ukrainian Dances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Komar published accordion instruction books and founded two music schools in Winnipeg.
