Maivsky, Dmytro [Маївський, Дмитро; Majivs'kyj; nom de guerre: Taras Kosar], b 8 November 1914 in Reklynets, Zhovkva county, Galicia, d 19 December 1945. Revolutionary and nationalist leader. He joined the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) when he was still a secondary-school student, and eventually was placed in charge of its cadres in Zhovkva county. During the Soviet occupation of Galicia (1939–41) he was OUN commander for Sokal okruha and delegate to the Second Great Assembly of the OUN. In May 1943 he was appointed to the three-man OUN Executive Bureau and placed in charge of propaganda. He was editor of Ideia i chyn (1942, 1944–5) and one of the organizers of the Third Great Assembly, which made major revisions in the OUN political program. He died in battle against Soviet border guards as he tried to cross the Soviet-Czechoslovak border.
