Sandstone. A type of sedimentary rock found throughout Ukraine. The highest grades of sandstone in Ukraine are located in the Dnieper region and in Kyiv oblast, Cherkasy oblast, Kirovohrad oblast, and Sumy oblast. The rock is used for making grindstones and as a material in brick manufacturing. The best sandstone for the latter purpose is found in Donetsk oblast and the Crimea.
