Sheptytsky, Klymentii [Шептицький, Климентій; Šeptyc’kyj, Klymentij], b 17 November 1869 in Prylbychi, Yavoriv county, Galicia, d 1 May 1951 in Vladimir prison. Studite monk; brother of Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. After entering the Studite order he studied theology in Innsbruck (1913–17). He was later (1939) secretly named exarch for Russia and Siberia. In 1944 he succeeded his brother as archimandrite of the Studite order. That year he led a Ukrainian Catholic delegation that went to Moscow for discussion of the future of the church following the occupation of Galicia. His arrest in 1947 was accompanied by a 25-year prison sentence, which he served in a number of concentration camps until his death.
