Siaivo [«Сяйво»; Aura]. A monthly journal of literature and the arts published in Kyiv from January 1913 to September 1914 (a total of 21 issues). It was established on the initiative of its illustrator, Pavlo Kovzhun. The formal editor and publisher was the actor Oleksander Korolchuk, but the actual editor was Ivan M. Steshenko. Siaivo published articles by prominent cultural figures: Vasyl H. Krychevsky wrote on architecture; P. Chaika, Yevhen Kuzmyn, Antin Sereda, and Okhrim Sudomora on art; Mykola Biliashivsky and Danylo Shcherbakivsky on folk art and ethnography; Valeriia O’Connor-Vilinska, V. Boretsky, and Vasyl Verkhovynets on music; and Mykola Vorony, Mykola Sadovsky, I. Steshenko, Sofiia Rusova, and Kostiantyn Shyrotsky on theater. It also published original literary works by Ivan Franko, Oleksander Oles, Mykola Vorony, Maksym Rylsky, and others; literary criticism (eg, about the works of Volodymyr Vynnychenko, Yurii Fedkovych, and Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky); and reproductions of the works of Taras Shevchenko, Mykola Burachek, Fotii Krasytsky, Mykola Pymonenko, O. Sudomora, Mykhailo Parashchuk, Fedir Balavensky, and other artists. The journal was closed down by the Russian government following the outbreak of the First World War.
