Union of Ukrainian Lawyers (Союз українських адвокатів; Soiuz ukrainskykh advokativ or СУА; SUA). A professional organization of Ukrainian lawyers in interwar Poland. Established in 1923, it had its headquarters in Lviv and local branches in most towns with a district court. The union succeeded the Collegium of Advocates (1919–21), which was the legal section of the Ukrainian Citizens' Committee. The SUA defended the professional interests of Ukrainian lawyers in Poland and the use of the Ukrainian language in courts and official institutions, and organized the defense of Ukrainians involved in political trials. Together with the Society of Ukrainian Lawyers, it published the legal quarterly Zhyttia i pravo (1928–39). The SUA published an almanac commemorating its 10th anniversary (1934), and Roman Dombchevsky’s Za prava ukraïns'koï movy (For the Rights of the Ukrainian Language, 1936). By 1939 it had a membership of almost 400 lawyers and 300 articling postsecondary students, almost three-quarters of all the Ukrainian lawyers in Poland. The presidents of SUA were Lev Hankevych and Kost Levytsky (1924–39). The society was dissolved in 1939, when the Soviets occupied Western Ukraine.
