Uzh River (Polisia) [Уж; Už] (aka Уша; Usha River). (Map: Uzh River.) A right-bank tributary of the Prypiat River that flows for 256 km through Zhytomyr oblast and Kyiv oblast and drains a basin area of 8,080 sq km. It is 5–40 m wide and has a valley width of 1–7 km. The river is used for industry, water supply, irrigation, and log rafting. It freezes over from December to late March. Granite outcrops can be found in its basin. The city of Korosten is situated near its upper reaches. The Uzh flows into the Prypiat near Chornobyl.
