Veselka, monthly («Веселка»; Rainbow). A monthly children’s magazine published in Jersey City, New Jersey, from September 1954 by the Ukrainian National Association. Edited by Volodymyr Barahura, Bohdan Hoshovsky, Roman Zavadovych, and other members of the Association of Ukrainian Writers for Young People, it contained fairy tales, stories, poems, games, puzzles, and songs. The magazine’s subscriptions dropped from a high of approximately 6,000 in 1954 to approximately 1,000 in 1984.
