Herasymchuk, Vasyl

Herasymchuk, Vasyl [Герасимчук, Василь; Herasymčuk, Vasyl’], b 10 January 1880 in Ilkivtsi, Sokal county, Galicia, d 1 September 1944 in Lviv. Galician historian and student of Mykhailo Hrushevsky; full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. He wrote primarily about the history of the Cossacks in the latter half of the 17th century. He compiled materials on the history of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky period from Polish sources for the Archeographic Commission of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, but they were never published. He is the author of Chudnivs’ka kampaniia 1660 r. (Chudniv Campaign of 1660, 1913) and many articles in Zapysky Naukovoho tovarystva im. Shevchenka.
