Joachim V

Joachim V. Patriarch of Antioch ca 1581–92. He was commissioned by the Constantinople Patriarch, Jeremiah II, to report on the status of Kyiv metropoly. In 1586 he visited Lviv and confirmed the new statute of the Lviv Dormition Brotherhood on behalf of Jeremiah granting the right of stauropegion (direct subordination to a patriarch instead of a local bishop). This statute became the model for other Ukrainian brotherhoods.
