Koliada, Hryhorii (Heo) [Коляда, Григорій; Koljada, Hryhorij], b 21 January 1904 in Valky, Kharkiv gubernia, d December 1941 near Yelni, Moscow oblast. Futurist poet. In 1921–3 he taught in Kharkiv and ran the Petrovsky Children's Commune and the VUTsVK Children's Town. Then he studied at the Academy of Communist Education (1923–6) and the Institute of Transport (1926–30) in Moscow. He was a member of the literary organizations Pluh and Hart and while in Moscow joined the group Selo i Misto. Koliada debuted as a poet in 1922. In 1923 he coauthored a poetry collection, Shturma (The Storm), with Oleksander Kopylenko and Ivan Senchenko in Kharkiv. In Moscow six collections of his poetry were published by Kost Burevii's Ukrainian publishing concern Selo i Misto: Olenka (1925), Shturm inatysk (Assault and Pressure, 1926), Prekrasnyi den’ (A Beautiful Day, 1926), Zoloti kucheri (Golden Curls, 1926), Futur-extra (1927), and Arsenal syl: Roman novoï konstruktsiï (Arsenal of Forces: A Novel of New Construction, 1929). Nothing he wrote was published during the Stalinist terror of the 1930s. Koliada disappeared without trace after joining the Soviet levy en masse during the German invasion of the USSR.
