Kuzmenko, Petro

Kuzmenko, Petro [Кузьменко, Петро; Kuz'menko], b 1831 in Ponornytsia, Novhorod Siverskyi county, Chernihiv gubernia, d 1874 at Potitkivskyi khutir, Chernihiv gubernia. Writer, ethnographer. A teacher by vocation, he composed poems in the Romantic style and wrote a novel about peasant life, Ne tak zhdalosia, da tak sklalosia (It Did Not Turn Out as Expected, 1861). His literary works and his ethnographic studies appeared in the almanac Khata (Saint Petersburg), the journal Osnova (Saint Petersburg), and the newspaper Chernigovskii listok.
