Lviv Lesia Ukrainka Drama Theater (Львівський драматичний театр ім. Лесі Українки; Lvivskyi dramatychnyi teatr im. Lesi Ukrainky). Established in 1931 in Kyiv as the Theater of the Kyiv Military District. It was renamed several times. In 1941–4 it performed outside of Ukraine (mainly in Siberia), and in 1944–53 it was the Theater of the Odesa Military District in Odesa. From 1954 it was stationed in Lviv under the name Lviv Russian Drama Theater. All of its performances were in Russian. Its artistic directors were Yukhym Lishansky (1931–40) and V. Lyzohub (1958–63). In 2008 the theater was renamed Lviv Municipal Theater, and in 2011 it assumed its present name. The theater’s current repertoire includes dramas by Lesia Ukrainka and other Ukrainian and Western European plays.
