Savchenko, Volodymyr

Savchenko, Volodymyr [Савченко, Володимир; Savčenko], b 14 September 1882 in Skvyra, Kyiv gubernia, d 18 November 1957 in the United States. Senior army officer. He served in various staff positions in the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic, including chief of staff of the Katerynoslav Republican Kish and of the Eighth Zaporozhian Division in 1919 and acting first quartermaster general of the UNR Army in 1920. He attained the rank of colonel. During the interwar period he lived in Poland and contributed articles on recent military history to Za derzhavnist’, Tabor, and other periodicals. After the Second World War he emigrated to the United States.
