Uchytel’ (1869–74)

Uchytel’ (1869–74) [«Учитель»; Teacher]. A newspaper published weekly in 1869–73 and then semimonthly in 1874 in Lviv (a total of 242 issues). Intended initially for teachers, it soon became a more general paper of pedagogy and enlightenment (see Pedagogical periodicals) affiliated with the Russophile Stauropegion Institute. It also published belles lettres and articles on cultural and economic affairs and the children’s magazine Lastivka. The editor and publisher was M. Klemertovych. In 1880 publication of Uchytel’ was renewed briefly.
