He worked with Les Kurbas in the Ternopilski Teatralni Vechory theater (1915–17), Molodyi Teatr (1917–19), the Shevchenko First Theater of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic (1919), the New Lviv Theater (1920), and the Kyidramte (1920–2). His repertoire included such roles as Stepan and Koval in Marko Kropyvnytsky's Nevil’nyk (The Prisoner), Leiba and Gonta in Kurbas's adaptation of Taras Shevchenko's Haidamaky (The Haidamakas), Macduff in William Shakespeare's Macbeth, Schigorski in M. Halbe's Jugend, Cavaliere di Ripafratta in C. Goldoni's La Locandiera, and Podkolosin in Nikolai Gogol's Zhenit’ba (The Wedding).
