Postoliuk, Petro

Postoliuk, Petro [Постолюк, Петро; Postoljuk], b 10 July 1894 in Storonybaby, Zolochiv county, Galicia, d 27 September 1978 in Newark, New Jersey. Civic activist and publisher. He enlisted in the Legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen in 1914 and fought in its ranks until 1920. After completing his university studies in Vienna (1923) he worked as a manager in Ivan Tyktor’s Ukrainska Presa publishing house and as a director of the Chervona Kalyna publishing co-operative, which he had founded with a group of veterans. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Izmarahd publishing house in Lviv. During the Second World War he was a director of the Ukrainske Vydavnytstvo (Cracow). After emigrating to the United States of America in 1949, he revived the Chervona Kalyna publishing house there and served as its president until the end of his life. He also worked with the Svoboda Press, the publisher of the daily Svoboda.
