Snovsk [Сновськ]. See Google Map; see EU map: II-12. A city (2022 pop 10,620) on the Snov River and a raion center (until 2020) in Chernihiv oblast. A khutir established at the site in the 1860s developed into a settlement after the Homel–Bakhmach railway line was constructed (1874), and adopted the name of the nearest railway station, Snovske. In 1924 the settlement was granted city status. From 1935 to 2016 it was officially called Shchors in honor of a Bolshevik military leader Mykola Shchors. Today it is an industrial and transportation center. It has a furniture factory, food processing plants, and railway servicing shops.
