Chernihiv vicegerency

Chernihiv vicegerency [Ukrainian: Чернігівське намісництво, Chernihivske namisnytstvo; Russian: Черниговское намесничество, Chernigovskoe namesnichestvo]. An administrative territory created in 1781 following the final abolition of the autonomy of the Hetman state in Left-Bank Ukraine and its regimental system. Its administrative center was Chernihiv. In 1797 the vicegerency was abolished, and its territory was incorporated into the newly-created Little Russia gubernia.
