Komaretsky, Serhii

Komaretsky, Serhii [Комарецький, Сергій; Komarec'kyj, Serhij], b 25 March 1881 in Irkliiv, Poltava gubernia, d 1 August 1952 in Haar, Bavaria, West Germany. Chemist. In 1922 he was appointed lecturer, and in 1927 professor, at the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady, Czechoslovakia. From 1942 to 1945 he served as director of the Ukrainian Technical and Husbandry Institute. His publications include chemistry textbooks and papers on inorganic chemistry; eg, on obtaining iodine from Black Sea seaweed.
