Krevo, Union of (Ukrainian: Кревська унія; Krevska uniia). A treaty between the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, signed 14 August 1385 (in Krevo, now in Belarus). It created a dynastic link of the two states through a marriage between the Polish queen Jadwiga and the Lithuanian prince Jagiełło. It also united the two countries in their struggle against the invading Teutonic knights. With the Union of Krevo, Ukrainian and Belarusian lands under the rule of Lithuania were incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland. Ukrainian and Belarusian nobles opposed the union, but to no avail.
