Moloda Hromada

Moloda Hromada (Молода громада; Young Community). An association of veterans of the Ukrainian Galician Army and the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic, formed in 1925 in Lviv. Its activities included lectures and discussions on the recent struggle for independence (1917–20), commemorations of 1 November (see November Uprising in Lviv, 1918) and 22 January, and organized visits to soldiers’ cemeteries. Besides promoting personal contacts among veterans, it provided financial aid to war invalids, veterans, and their families. In 1938 the society organized the funeral of Brig Gen Myron Tarnavsky. Its presidents were Yuliian Sheparovych and Andrii Palii, and its long-term secretary was Liubomyr Makarushka. The society’s activities ceased in 1939.
