Trident Press

Trident Press (Видавнича спілка Тризуб; Vydavnycha spilka Tryzub). One of the major Ukrainian publishing houses in Canada. Originally called the Ukrainian Publishing Company of Canada, the Trident Press was established in Winnipeg in 1909 by Ukrainian bilingual teachers to publish the newspaper Ukraïns’kyi holos. By 1918 the newspaper and the press were identified with the nascent Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. Other Trident Press publications include Visnyk (Winnipeg) (organ of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada), Promin’ (organ of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada), and books in Ukrainian and English, including many works on Ukrainian-Canadian themes. In 1973 Trident Press bought out the rival newspaper Kanadiis’kyi farmer.
