Zakhidnia Ukraïna

Zakhidnia Ukraïna (Western Ukraine). A magazine dealing with art, literature, politics, and community news in Kharkiv. It was published irregularly in 1927 and monthly from 1930 to 1933. It was the official organ of the literary organization Zakhidnia Ukraina and was edited by Vasyl Atamaniuk, who was followed by Myroslav Irchan, Ivan Tkachuk, Volodymyr Gzhytsky, Y. Zazuliak, and Dmytro Zahul. The contributors, primarily members of the organization, wanted ‘to emphasize the proletarian class direction and to relay the class struggle of workers in Western Ukraine in their works.’ The magazine's illustrators were Vasyl Kasiian, Borys Kriukov, and Yakiv Strukhmanchuk.
