Pleshchynsky, Ilarion [Плещинський, Іларіон; Pleščyns'kyj], b 28 April 1892 in Dokshitsy, Vitsebsk gubernia, Belarus, d 6 February 1961 in Kyiv. Graphic artist. After graduating from the Kazan Art Institute (1921) he moved to Kyiv and taught at the Kyiv State Art Institute (1925–34, 1944–61) and the Kyiv Civil-Engineering Institute (1934–44). In the late 1920s he was a member of the Union of Contemporary Artists of Ukraine. His works consist of prints depicting landscapes, posters, and book illustrations. He produced many series of etchings and drawings, such as ‘Boats on the Dnipro River’ (1925), ‘Kyiv: Landscapes on the Banks of the Dnipro’ (1927), ‘Dnipro Motifs’ (1947–61), and ‘Ukrainian Landscapes’ (1935–9). A book about him was published in Kyiv in 1964.
