Romensky, Mykhailo [Роменський, Михайло; Romens'kyj, Myxajlo], b 20 November 1887 in Kursk, Russia, d 21 November 1971 in Kyiv. Opera singer (bass). He studied with L. Donskoi at the Moscow Conservatory (1913–16) and then appeared as a soloist with theaters in Rostov-na-Donu (1920–34), Kharkiv (1934–42), and Kyiv (1942–58) in operas by Mykola Lysenko, Semen Hulak-Artemovsky, Mikhail Glinka, A. Dargomyzhsky, Kostiantyn Dankevych, and Charles Gounod. In recital he performed vocal chamber music and Ukrainian folk songs. In 1947–52 he taught singing at the Kyiv Conservatory.
